About Tokyo Game Show 2026

Tokyo Game Show 2026 is an arts and entertainment trade show that took place September 24–27, 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. It ran for four days, from Thursday to Sunday.

Shows like this one typically draw producers, venue operators, promoters, gallery and studio professionals, technicians and media buyers. For registration, exhibitor packages and the floor plan, go to the official website, tgs.nikkeibp.co.jp.

What to expect at Tokyo Game Show 2026

Arts and entertainment events mix creative and technical audiences. Expect networking-heavy days, showcases and performances, and visitors who value portfolios and live examples over brochures.

Over four days, traffic usually peaks on the first two days and thins out on the last one. The quieter final day is a good time for longer conversations, visiting other stands and meeting suppliers. At events like this, expect most visitors to be producers and their colleagues, often with a short list of suppliers they want to see.

How exhibitors should prepare for Tokyo Game Show 2026

Planning for the next edition (dates expected, not yet confirmed), here is a working timeline counted back from September 30, 2027:

1. 16 weeks before (Jun 10, 2027)
Confirm your booth space and read the exhibitor manual. Book hotels near Makuhari Messe while rates are still normal.
2. 8 weeks before (Aug 5, 2027)
Order booth services (power, internet, furniture, cleaning) before the early-rate deadlines, and send graphics to print.
3. 4 weeks before (Sep 2, 2027)
Ship freight to the advance warehouse if the organizer offers one. Book meetings with the visitors you most want to see. Set up lead capture and train the team on it.
4. One week before (Sep 23, 2027)
Confirm freight arrived, share the staffing schedule, charge every device, and test your lead capture app with Wi-Fi turned off.

Preparation tips for arts and entertainment shows

• Prepare a short reel or portfolio that plays without sound; exhibit halls are loud.
• Schedule meetings with venues, promoters or buyers ahead of time.
• Check rights and licensing for any music or video you plan to play at the booth.

Booth tips for Tokyo Game Show 2026

• Show work, not slides: screens, samples or a live demonstration.
• Ask what the visitor is producing next and when.
• Have a simple way to share your portfolio digitally after the conversation.
• Walk the hall at Makuhari Messe during move-in to see which entrances and aisles carry the most traffic, and set up your booth so it faces that flow.
• Plan shifts of three to four hours. Standing and talking for four days wears people out, and tired staff let good leads walk past.
• If you expect local buyers in Japan, bring key material in the local language as well as English, and have prices ready in the local currency.
• Capture every conversation the moment it ends: scan the badge or card, add a one-line note about what the visitor needs, and rate the lead hot, warm or cold. Notes written that evening are already half forgotten.

Following up leads after Tokyo Game Show 2026

Most of the value of a trade show is created after it closes. Creative projects often start months later, so stay in touch with useful updates rather than repeated pitches.

1. Within 24 hours

2. Within 3 days
Send what you promised at the booth and log every lead in your CRM with its rating and notes.
3. After two weeks
Make a second, useful touch: a case study, a short video or an answer to their question.
4. After a month
Review results: meetings booked, cost per lead, and whether the show is worth repeating.

Ready-to-edit messages for each step are in our trade show follow-up email templates.
